Wanderlust, a new comedy starring Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd, will be shown in movie theaters across North America starting today.

The film is about a New York City couple that finds a new life in an isolated community in the southern United States where “the only rule is to be yourself.”

The word wanderlust means the desire to travel.

Dear readers,

We would like to share some good news with you.

This August a hungry kitten made its way into the bushes near where Simple English News is located.

We fed the cat for several weeks, and he started to become healthier as each day passed.

Last week a local animal shelter* contacted us with the news that they had found a home for the young feline.

The people who now look after the cat decided to name him Sam. Sam lives in a big house on a quiet street. He is very happy in his new home.

*Remember to visit your local animal shelter if you would like a new pet.

Are We Losing Our Memories?

With so much information available to us on the Internet, we seem to be using our memories less and less.

In many cases, it is no longer essential to memorize things we once needed to know. Facts that we have forgotten can easily be found through search engines. Directions to a friend’s house can be obtained through a couple of clicks of the mouse.

Will this process continue? Will our brains change as we rely more and more on technology?

We at Simple English News believe that, yes, English can provide a person with a financial advantage. But we would say that, wouldn’t we?

A better answer might be: it depends on what you want to do for a living.

English is the international language of business, science and technology. Moreover, many businesses want job applicants to speak English.

Of course, there is more to learning English than simply making more money. You can enjoy English movies, books and magazines as well.

And there is no reason to stop at learning English. You can learn other languages too.

Vyjadrenie slovenského “však?”. Ak si chceme potvrdiť svoje tvrdenie, krátkou otázkou “však?”, tak v angličtine na koniec našej vety doplníme pomocné sloveso hlavnej vety. Ak je pomocné sloveso v hlavnej vete v kladnom tvare alebo zamlčané doplníme na koniec pomocné sloveso v zápornom tvare (napr. He works in Púchov, doesn’t he). Ak je pomocné sloveso v hlavnej vete v zápore doplníme pomocné sloveso v kladnom tvare.
